Apply now for JustEd Mobility Fellowship 2017

Monday 24 October is the last day for submitting your application for JustEd Mobility Fellowship 2017. The aim of the grants is to intensify collaboration and exchange of researchers between the partner institutions.

The fellowships are primarily open for JustEd members, but a fellowship can also be granted for international visiting postdoctoral or senior researchers whose research is closely related to the centre research themes.

Currently, three JustEd members at University of Helsinki are incorporated into the activities of receiving institutions. Two of them, docent Sirpa Lappalainen and PhD student Jenni Helakorpi, are visiting University of Gothenburg, while lecturer Sonja Kosunen is in Reykjavik at University of Iceland.

It is recommended that the visiting researcher gives an open lecture at the receiving partner institution. On Tuesday 25 October Sonja will give her lecture at University of Iceland on Processes of privatisation in Finnish higher education.

“I will talk about access to higher education and the limitations constructed by the different forms of capital embedded in the process. I will also discuss markets in the field of higher education,” says Sonja.

Currently, she’s researching on preparatory courses in Finland and the role these courses play in the transition from secondary to higher education in Finland.
