JustEd2018 ‘Promoting Justice through Education’ Call for proposals

JustEd2018 conference Promoting Justice through Education invites submissions particularly in, but not limited to, the following areas and in any site or level of education, such as compulsory schooling, early childhood education, higher education, informal education, youth and adult education, etc.:

  • Changing conceptualisations and philosophies of justice in education
  • Educational practices for social justice
  • Marketisation effects on education justice
  • Meeting multiple diversities in education (disability, gender, ethnicity, language, queer, race, religion, social class, migration status, and more)
  • Education politics and policies for education justice
  • Methods for researching education justice

You are warmly invited to submit an abstract for an oral paper presentation or interactive poster presentation. We also welcome symposium submissions on the above mentioned areas. Before submitting an abstract, please read the submission guidelines below for further information on the session formats and abstract submission.

Session formats and abstract submission guidelines
Paper session

90 minute sessions. 4 papers are presented in each session. Presentation time is 12-15 minutes per paper. The presenters should reserve some time for discussion at the end of their presentation. The room is equipped with computer and data projector. Presenters are encouraged to use power point or other audio-visual presentation.

  • Paper proposal should be max 500 words long and include a description of the research questions, objectives and theoretical framework, research methods, and findings or expected outcomes.

Interactive poster session
90 minute sessions. 4-6 posters are presented in each session. Poster presenters prepare a printed poster and a short presentation. The poster size should be A0 (portrait orientation) or A1 (landscape orientation). The presenters put their posters up for display in their allocated space before the poster session. In the beginning of the poster session each presenter gives a 5 minute oral presentation. Thereafter the presenters stand by their poster for discussion.

  • Poster proposal should be max 500 words long and include a description of the research questions, objectives and theoretical framework, research methods, and findings or expected outcomes.

90 minute sessions. Symposium organizer chairs the session where a number of speakers discuss a common topic. Symposium can include 3-5 presentations.

  • Symposium organizer submits a proposal that includes a general description of the symposium topic (max 250 words), as well as the proposals of all the individual presentations (max 250 words each) that form part of the symposium.

How to submit?
Abstract Submissions are accepted only electronically by using the on-line submission system.

Abstract submission deadline: 15 January 2018
The online submission system has been closed and the submitted proposals are now in review.

To start the submission, create a new account and make sure to give your valid email address. You can choose your own password. Please remember the password for future log in. Further instructions are given as you proceed with your submission.

Accepted contributions will be presented either as oral paper presentations, interactive poster presentations or symposia according to the decision of the Scientific Committee. Acceptance of the proposal is subject to acceptance by the Scientific Committee and the Committee has all rights to accept or reject the proposal.

Authors will be notified of acceptance of their contributions and the type of presentation (oral or poster) by February 15, 2018 (subject to changes).

All accepted abstracts will be published in the PDF Abstract book, subject to the author’s confirmation of presenting the paper and registering as a delegate. The accepted proposals will be published as typed by the author, including any errors in grammar, spelling or scientific facts.

Submission process

1. Please log in to the abstract submission page. If you have created an account please use your passwords. If you are logging in for the first time please select the Create New Account –option. Kindly notice that only abstracts submitted using the on-line system can be accepted.
1.1. Fill in your e-mail address and your preferred password. Click Create New Account.
1.2. Click Update Contact Information and then Create Contact
2. Please select Abstract Submission from the top of the page.
3. Please fill in the requested details:
3.1.     Type in the title according to the instructions given
3.2.     Choose the presentation type you would prefer
3.3.     Choose the theme
3.4.     Fill in the author/symposium organiser details
3.5.     Type your abstract to the text field and if submitting a symposium proposal type also 3-5 individual presentations.
3.6.     Preview your proposal and click Continue
3.7.     Accept the terms and conditions and then submit your proposal by clicking Submit
At any time in the process you can click the Save As Draft button to save your incomplete submission and return to it later. You can edit – until the submission deadline – the draft version of your proposal. Once you have clicked “Submit” you can no longer edit your proposal.
The deadline for abstract submission is January 15, 2018.
After this date you can no longer submit or edit a proposal.
