By on 09.09.2014 in Uncategorized

The first JustEd Summer School, held in 17-22 August, gathered together 34 doctoral students from the Nordic countries to study methodological and analytical possibilities and challenges of research on justice through education.

Five intensive summer school days included workshops, paper sessions and lectures. The lectures were given by members of JustEd and visiting scholars. They discussed a wide range of topics, such as different meanings of justice in education and educational research, comparative approaches to education and social justice, critical ethnography, video and photography as research methods, analysing justice in classroom interaction, studying justice with data from surveys and large-scale assessments, alter-globalism in higher education, policy implications for justice, and research ethics.

The summer school was held in Hanasaari, the Swedish-Finnish Culture Centre in Espoo.
